Lake Tekapo Around 3 hour drive from Christchurch is Lake Tekapo. Lake Tekapo is New Zealand's most famous and favorite lake. It is also called most picturesque lake of the New Zealand. View of mountains behind the lake is really beautiful. Also you can spot range of Lavenders just by the river. We spent around 1 hour or so before heading to our Motel in Twizel.
