Lake Tekapo - Twizel - Mount Cook

Lake Tekapo

Around 3 hour drive from Christchurch is Lake Tekapo. Lake Tekapo is New Zealand's most famous and favorite lake. It is also called most picturesque lake of the New Zealand. View of mountains behind the lake is really beautiful. Also you can spot range of Lavenders just by the river. 
We spent around 1 hour or so before heading to our Motel in Twizel. 

















Night Sky and Stargazing

Later at night we came back to Lake Tekapo for our Night sky tour. Road at night was really dark and shadow of the mountains along with shades of Lake Pukaki was really spectacular. 

Night sky tour is highly recommended as this is International Dark Sky Reserve. Unfortunately it was full moon and not much was visible in terms of stars and Galaxies. It is better to plan accordingly.





Twizel

Twizel is adjacent town to Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook. We could not get accomodation in Mount cook for whole 2 nights so we decided to stay 1 night at Twizel and second one in Mount Cook. As it turned out it was totally worth it.










Mount Cook

The spotlight of this Trip is Mount Cook. So after resting for 1 night in Twizel we headed towards Mount Cook. The entire route is mostly scenic view of Lake Pukaki. There are several spots for pictures.

New Zealand South Island Trip (2 weeks)

In November 2019 I decided to have a relaxing 16 days trip in New Zealand South Island. I am glad I did this trip before the Covid-19 Pandemic began. I did a lot of research and preparation to finalize finer details of the trip. Below is the map that I came up with after extensive research and planning.
