  Akaroa Akaroa is only around 1 hour and 10 minutes drive from Christchurch. It is listed in Thrills list blog as one of the top 10 romantic destinations in the world. We visited Akaroa on our last day in Christchurch. However I find it a bit underwhelming after visiting all the Magical destinations in New Zealand.  Therefore it is suggested to either visit this as your first road trip or you may consider dropping it altogether if you are short of time. Queenstown Queenstown, also known as adventure capital of the world is amazing place. There are bunch of activities you can choose in Queenstown. Lake Tekapo Around 3 hour drive from Christchurch is Lake Tekapo. Lake Tekapo is New Zealand's most famous and favorite lake. It is also called most picturesque lake of the New Zealand. View of mountains behind the lake is really beautiful.
